Women's Surgery

The staff of the Women's Surgical Unit at Mission Hospital is committed to providing compassionate, holistic care for women facing gyn surgery. Our goal is to minimize fear and promote a positive hospital experience, while addressing any unique and/or special needs. Our team of specialized medical and nursing staff, chaplains, and discharge planners are dedicated to providing expert care, emotional and spiritual support to women and their loved ones as they cope with these life changing events.

The 20 bed Women's Surgery patient care unit on the Memorial campus is devoted to the special needs of female patients recovering from complex gynecologic and pelvic surgery or coping with women's cancer treatment. These can include gynecologic cancers, breast cancers, and urinary and fecal incontinence problems.

Technical and procedural advances make it possible to provide gynecological surgery in out-patient or in-patient locations, depending on each woman's medical need. Many of these surgeries can be performed using minimally invasive surgery techniques. Prepare for your surgery by reading the Your GYN Surgery (PDF) brochure. It will provide you and your family with information to plan for your surgery and recovery.
