Kate Schmitz directs service line planning and supports key business aspects of all major Clinical Service Lines including inpatient and Ambulatory services.
Schmitz is responsible for coordinating business planning and new program / business development support that ensures the advancement of Mission's strategic plan. Kate is also responsible for leading a team of service line-specific business managers and data analysts to ensure timely and consistent support of operational, financial, and statistical analysis as well as annual budget preparation.
Prior to joining Mission, Kate was the Director of Planning and Business Development for Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in Greenville, South Carolina. While at St. Francis, she created an in-house planning department that facilitated service line business planning, marketing, and managed Certificate of Need processes.
Prior to Kate's role at Bon Secours, she was at the Greenville Hospital System for six years where she served as senior planning analyst responsible for the development and maintenance of annual strategic business plans, new program development, and other business support functions. She has also worked with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of South Carolina as a Network Specialist responsible for provider relations, contract negotiations and financial analysis of the South Carolina TRICARE network.
Kate holds a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration from Auburn University and a Master's degree in Health Administration from the University of South Carolina.
