Nursing is...connecting through caring so healing can occur. In the struggle to maintain the technological skill required for nursing today, we often lose sight of the heartfelt caring that makes nursing matter. Anyone can learn to program an IV pump, but if you're not acting from a place of love in your heart, your work really can't impact a patient.
Patients don't need another button pusher in their lives; they need someone who cares about them and who's willing to walk next to them and support them through what may be the most difficult journey of their lives. The fact is, if you've lost the love of caring about people, you're probably doing more harm than good.
