Mission Announces New Outreach Events Coordinator
Sarah Hinson has been named the Outreach Events Coordinator for the Community Health Enhancement Department at Mission Hospital. As the Outreach Events Coordinator, Hinson is responsible for planning, staffing, and organizing events for community organizations, including screenings, which can include cholesterol and blood glucose checks, blood pressures, body mass index, and education information. "As the economy changes and wellness education grows, industries are seeing health events as a way to educate their employees about getting well and staying well," says Hinson. "Local industries and organizations are taking advantage of having Mission Hospital as their local provider for health services and are continuously expanding the outreach event calendar. It is exciting to see that employers are taking an interest in their employee's health, and I look forward to working with these organizations in the future." Hinson also assists with coordinating and organizing health events within the Mission Health System, including the Blood Drives on the Memorial and St. Joseph campuses. In addition, she is involved with Safe Kids of Western North Carolina, a network of agencies that focus on reducing childhood injury and death associated with motor vehicle crashes, bicycle crashes, burns and smoke inhalation, drowning and poisoning. Prior to coming to Mission, Sarah worked at Rutherford Hospital, in Rutherfordton, NC, as the Wellness Coordinator, where she conducted wellness programs, and community screening events.
