Mission Children's Hospital is a proud member of the new nonprofit foundation Together for Kids as part of Mission's ongoing commitment to the children of Western North Carolina.  Together for Kids will raise funds nationally to help Mission Children's Hospital and other member hospitals to cope with dramatic increases in the health needs of children.

How Can I Help?

What Is Together For Kids?

 Together for Kids is a national alliance of 34 children's hospitals and other hospital systems, representing 53 individual facilities that serve children in 47 U.S. cities. The network includes major university teaching hospitals, pediatric departments within hospitals, and children's hospitals in communities of all sizes. It also includes the 20 Shriners Hospitals for Children across the country that provide sophisticated orthopedic and burn treatment for children at no charge.

The alliance is dedicated to building a healthier future for America's kids by providing an urgently needed national fundraising mechanism for its member hospitals, helping them care for seriously ill children and tackling the toughest health issues facing all kids, with a focus on childhood obesity and accident prevention.

Together for Kids is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity and plans to raise funds through corporate sponsorship, events, grants and other forms of philanthropy, distributing the funds to member hospitals to address the most urgent children's health needs in their communities.

The first collaborative fundraising event is called Walk Across America.  The national Walk Across America goal is to get enough participants involved to walk a total of 14,911 miles, the distance it would take to link all of member hospital locations. Based on these total combined miles, we hope to walk across America-from Boston, Massachusetts, to Honolulu, Hawaii!

Whether you run, skip, walk or jog, simply form a personal web page at www.togetherforkids.org/walk, log your miles completed in October as you go, and be sure to send an email to all your friends and family to garner support!  If you received $10 donations for your October miles from just ten of your friends, you'll raise $100, just like that!  And on the Together For Kids site, you can choose to be walking for Team Mission Children's Hospital which means you're directly benefiting sick kids in WNC. 

Here's how it works:

1. Enter www.togetherforkids.org in your web browser address window and hit Enter
   
2. click on Walk Across America, then click on Join the Walk. You'll see a list of member hospitals.
   
3. scroll down and click on Mission Children's Hospital.
   
4. once there, click on Join, then in the left hand box to the right of our name, click on Join again.
   
5. The site will walk you through the rest - it is quick and easy and even shows you how to send an email to your friends.
