Children Benefit from Cooperative Dental Fundraiser02/10/2009
People who reuse plastic bags at Earth Fare during February will help the children of Western North Carolina have healthier teeth, thanks to Earth Fare’s “Friend of Earth Fare” program.
Each time a customer brings in a re-useable bag for groceries, Earth Fare will donate five cents to the Mission Children’s Hospital Dental Program, which provides dental care for children throughout the region who could not otherwise get it. Another five cents will be donated to Appalachian Offsets a carbon offset program combating global warming through local renewable energy and efficiency projects in WNC.
This program helps everyone conserve non-renewable resources used in the production of both paper and plastic bags, while it helps immediately impact the health of the community through supporting local organizations,” said Janice Husk As part of the program, Toms of Maine will give out sample size tubes of toothpaste from 11:00 am to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 21 at the Westgate store and on Sunday, February 22 at the South Asheville store.Educational material about children’s dental health from the Mission Children’s Dental Program will be included along with changes to win a Tom’s gift basket.
