Dental Surgery and Hospital Care
Some children and special-needs patients with severe dental problems cannot be treated easily or completely in a traditional dental setting and may need to be cared for under general anesthesia at Mission Hospital or Asheville Surgery Center.
Before surgery day, parents are given education about the risks, benefits and alternatives to treatment under general anesthesia. At the post-op visit we check to see how the patient is recovering after surgery. During that last visit, we take great care to educate the patient and family on maintenance of good oral health. Families are provided with any needed information so that they can pursue future oral health care in a traditional community dental setting.
