The medical staff at Mission's Orthopedic Center includes three surgeons specially trained in foot and ankle surgery. We are the only hospital in Western North Carolina with surgeons who have expertise and experience in these areas. These highly specialized physicians play a critical role in Mission's trauma program.
Common operations performed on an outpatient basis include:
- ankle arthroscopy
- ankle fusion
- bunionectomy
- foot and ankle trauma (care for fractures)
Such procedures are normally carried out at the hospital's new freestanding Asheville Surgery Center. Patients are usually discharged the same day. A small percentage of procedures require an overnight hospital stay.
