Mission has a grant from the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to operate the MDA Clinic serving western North Carolina and the upstate area of South Carolina.
MDA maintains 230 hospital-affiliated clinics that offer patients and families excellent care for progressive neuromuscular diseases. In Asheville, the clinic is operated by Dr. Michael Young and Dr. Duff Rardin of Western Carolina Neurological Associates.

More than 43 neuromuscular disorders are treated at the clinic. These include:
- Inflammatory myopathies
- Endocrine myopathies
- Metabolic diseases of the muscle
- Neuromuscular junction diseases
- Motor neuron diseases
- Some peripheral nerve diseases
- Muscular dystrophies

A family support network for patients and families living with any of the conditions seen at the MDA clinic is offered in Asheville. It meets on the first Thursday of each month at Western Alliance Center for Independent Living, 30-B London Road, just off Sweeten Creek Road near Biltmore Village.
