Depression

Mission Hospitals sponsors a Depression Wellness program to help people covered by it's health plan who are dealing with depression. It is modeled after successful programs for managing other chronic conditions including diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and cholesterol.

The program's focus is to ensure individuals being treated for depression with medications are:

  • on the most appropriate medication
  • on the best dosage, and
  • consistently taking their medication.

Many individuals on chronic medications don't take them regularly, and therefore do not achieve expected results. Because cost can be a factor in consistently taking medication, anti-depressant medications are provided to participants free of cost as long as regular meetings with a specially trained pharmacist are maintained.

There is also a focus on good nutrition and activity for people dealing with depression. Participants also have access to free counseling through the Employee Assistance Program.

This personalized approach has helped over 1000 people with other chronic illnesses.

If you or a member of your family is dealing with depression, and covered by Mission's health plan, you are eligible. Call 213-4648 for more information.
