Diabetes/Asthma Camp

Diabetes/Asthma Camp

Camp WeCanDo - Summer Camp for Children and Teens with Asthma or Diabetes

Located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains near Hendersonville, North Carolina, Camp WeCanDo allows campers with asthma and diabetes to participate in a variety of fun outdoor activities. We don't tell kids what they can't do, we tell them "WeCanDo!"

In the process, they learn more about managing their asthma and diabetes-everything from testing blood sugar and administering insulin, to identifying what triggers an asthma episode, taking their daily medications and getting daily exercise.

  • Provides an action-packed week of outdoor activities
  • Teaches children and teens how to manage their diabetes or asthma while maintaining an active lifestyle
  • Provides an opportunity to meet other young people with diabetes or asthma
  • Promotes self-confidence and independence

Campers
Camp WeCanDo welcomes campers ages 7-16. Campers are enrolled in one of two programs:

Kids' Camp - for boys and girls ages 7-13
Teen Camp - for teens ages 14-16

Activities
Camp WeCanDo activities include hiking, climbing tower, swimming, field games, music, zip-line, boating, ropes course, campfires, and arts and crafts. These activities help improve self-confidence, respect for others, and respect for the environment.
